Medicare-Funded Group Exercise Classes for Type 2 Diabetes Patients in South Western Sydney

At Trinity Healthcare Centre, we believe in empowering our patients to take control of their health. If you’re living with type 2 diabetes, staying active is one of the most powerful ways to manage your condition. That’s why we’re proud to help our patients access Medicare-funded group exercise classes, run by qualified exercise physiologists right here in South Western Sydney.

With a GP care plan at Trinity, you could be eligible for up to eight group exercise sessions each year – tailored to your fitness level and designed to support better blood sugar control, more energy, and overall wellbeing.

Why Trinity Healthcare Centre Encourages Exercise for Diabetes Management

Diabetes can be a silent disease – you may not notice the effects until complications arise. At Trinity, our doctors see first-hand how regular physical activity helps reduce risks and improves quality of life.

Exercise can:

  • Improve blood glucose control
  • Reduce blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Support healthy weight management
  • Lower the risk of diabetes-related complications
  • Boost energy and improve sleep quality

By partnering with local accredited exercise physiologists, we ensure our patients receive safe, structured, and effective programs as part of their diabetes care.

How the Group Exercise Program Works

When you visit Trinity Healthcare Centre, your GP will:

  1. Create a Care Plan – During your appointment, your GP will review your health and set up a chronic condition management plan.
  2. Provide a Referral – This referral gives you access to Medicare-funded diabetes exercise classes run by qualified exercise physiologists.
  3. Book Your Sessions – You’ll begin with a one-on-one assessment to tailor the program to your needs, followed by eight small-group sessions, each about an hour long.

These classes are designed to be supportive, flexible, and tailored to your fitness level. Depending on the provider, they may be completely free, or a small gap fee may apply.

What to Expect in Your Sessions

With your GP’s referral from Trinity, you’ll receive:

  • Up to eight Medicare-funded group sessions per year
